SUNNYFIELD

Sunnyfield Community Precinct

Since 1952, Sunnyfield has operated the disability services hub and administrative and operations (NSW & ACT) support offices from Allambie Heights. Sunnyfield currently employs approximately 200 staff and up to 100 supported employees. Sunnyfield provides support services for persons and families living with a range of disabilities, which includes:

  • Social and support day program activities including capacity building activities such as music performances, sports and fitness, cooking classes, arts, and crafts etc.
  • Employment services in the form of light industry, production, and warehousing, within the building located along the northern boundary of the site.
  • Vocational training programs.

The development includes the Allambie Heights Community Hub and headquarters for Sunnyfield, with a vision to enhance public benefits and expand services to create a world-class disability support services hub. This hub will work synergistically with the Northern Beaches Hospital and support the growth of the Frenchs Forest Health and Education Precinct. The project aims to consolidate existing uses and develop purpose-built facilities for disability support services, clinical services, vocational training, and employment services, ensuring efficient use of the site. The new facilities will continue to house warehouses and supported employee facilities, while introducing new functions such as educational programs and events.

Consultation with Yerrabingin has been undertaken to ensure the rich heritage of the Country upon which the precinct stands is recognized and integrated into the development’s design. Protection and mitigation measures, developed in collaboration with the traditional custodians, are proposed as part of the application.

The development is subject to funding from the NSW Government, tied to the delivery of the proposed services. The proposal aims to achieve high standards of social, cultural, and environmental benefits, contributing positively to the local community.
